Relieved Rabbits

Rabbit Droppings...

...in the Thaw

I took these photos just after the snow began melting. All around the field rabbit droppings were much in evidence on the path. The picture formed in my mind of rabbits, snowed in, crossing their legs - and finally dashing out, as the thaw began, to relieve themselves!

"Only you could think of that, Mum!" My daughter remarked.

Life and Death

In the midst of life...

...we are in death.

There was a lot of rabbit fur on the path across the fields. I wonder what animal/bird pulls the fur off before eating the corpse.

Vertigo

What a horrible day yesterday was! The weather was, apparently, warm and sunny - just the sort of day to be outside enjoying nature. I was inside - until my husband took me to casualty.

I've never had vertigo before and I don't want it again. The feeling of dizziness began when I got up to visit the bathroom during the night. I made it back upstairs to bed and slept well. In the morning I sat up and immediately my head began to 'swim'. I clung to the bannisters to get downstairs to the bathroom and then sat in there for an hour before I could bear to try to get to a chair in the dining room.

Every movement brought giddiness and nausea. At the hospital I was given tablets and an injection to stop the nausea and sent home with seasickness tablets!! Today I'm still a bit dizzy, and unsteady, but the worst has gone and the tablets are working well, thank goodness. I don't intend to drive until I'm completely recovered - but now I can not only sympathise but empathise with others who suffer from this horrid complaint.

More about Vertigo.

Sometimes

Sometimes it's brought home to us that the most important thing in life is the people we love. When one of them is in trouble and we are able to help it feels like a privilege, it is a privilege. The greatest knowledge in the world is knowing that we can 'be there', that we can stand by a family member or friend, even if that is all we can do, even if remedying their situation is beyond our capabilities, to stand by someone in their time of need is what makes us truly human.

Compare this with my dog - I fell over on a walk and was unable to get up immediately because my leg hurt. I lay on the ground groaning while Jazz took full advantage of my incapacity to dart over to the bushes for a good sniff. I, of course, had expected her to react like Lassie!
